Fun Facts | Westwood Thai Cafe
Born next door to a Domino's
In 1993, our dad was delivering pizzas next door on Westwood Boulevard. He saw his chance, followed his passion for cooking, and opened Westwood Thai Cafe.
First lunch specials were $2.50
Dad always said "give them more" — big portions, low prices, so UCLA students could fill up and focus on studying. That spirit hasn't changed.
Pad Thai actually has Chinese roots
The dish traces back to China in the 1930s, then was adapted with the spicy, tangy, sweet flavors Thais loved. Today it's one of Thailand's most iconic street foods.
